Scott Brusaw will be presenting the Solar Roadways project to the NorthWest Solar Group on November 6th, 6:30pm at Saint Luke's Church at 515 South 312th Street, Federal Way, Washington. For further information, contact Robert Grothe, NorthWest Solar Group: rgrothe@tcmnet.com Come join us-talk about our project or puppies!

We will be delivering Sugar and Caroline to their new families in the Seattle area on Saturday, November 6th. We could bring a 3rd puppy as well if anyone else in the Seattle area is interested but does not want to make the drive to Idaho. We will be available to show puppies here November 5th. Family members will be here taking care of the remaining pups while we are gone but won't be available to show puppies. We will be back on Monday November 7th and can show pups then.

Watch for videos of puppy training sessions on puppy pages shortly. These pups are SO brilliant! They already know: sit, up, shake, lay down, crawl, sit up, and roll over. We do a training session with each puppy every day. They are potty trained and very used to their doggy door.

Our testing methods:

Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test

This is a test developed by dog trainers to help breeders assess and place puppies in the most suitable homes. Each puppy is brought to the testing area without their littermates and a stranger administers the test. The test is best given on the pups 49th day of life, which is when we gave it. Puppies are scored according to a 6 point scale for the various tests.  The Volhard's believe that the most well adjusted and easy to train puppies are those that receive the middle scores- 3's and 4's for most items. We agree for the most part, but we find that sometimes a puppy's reactions will not match any of their category choices and sometimes a puppy will score a high or low score for a reason that is not bad at all. So we type up extensive results with our interpretations and also give the raw results to puppy buyers. We believe this test has imperfections but it's the best test we know of and it's a valuable tool. We mix in our own observations since we know the puppies so very well.  The results can help identify puppies who are best suited to be in more or less active homes, pups which are more or less easy to train, puppies which are a good choice for homes with children, older people, and working situations, such as hunting, as therapy dogs, show dogs, search and rescue dogs etc. Every litter contains a variety of personalities. When the right puppy is matched with the right humans, everyone is happier. It's worth lots of time and effort to see that our puppies go to the homes where they and their new owners will be thrilled with the match.

Puppy Puzzle Conformation

We have evaluated the new litter using the method developed by Pat Hastings, who evaluates about 250 litters each year. We evaluated the litter on the exact date which Pat says gives you the best picture of the adult conformation of each puppy. Her system uses a 5 point scale, so 5 is a perfect score, 1 is the worst score. Anything below a 3 is a serious flaw which keeps a puppy from being show/breeding quality. The testing is very comprehensive and includes things like: overall balance and proportion, temperament, pigment, head shape, eyes, ears, bite, neck, shoulder angulation, angle of bone alignments, elbows, width and depth of chest, front assembly, length of ribcage and loin, hock stability shape and length, rear assembly, straightness of front and back legs, fit of knees shape of feet. shape of pelvis, tailset, topline and for male puppies, making sure both testicles are descended. Every puppy in our last two litters and this one tested as show/breeding quality using her standards.

About our Health Guarantee

Some breeders insist that a dog be returned to the breeder or even put to sleep before they will give a replacement puppy. We think that is just terrible. If a puppy developed any genetic disease in the first two years of life, we would simply ask for a letter from a veterinarian with the diagnosis and confirming that the dog has been spayed/neutered. We would then give a free replacement puppy of your choice from our next available litter. So you would keep your first pet and receive a second one - completely free with AKC registration (many breeders only give half off, choose the replacement puppy for you, or refuse to give you AKC registration on the replacement puppy).

Contact Info

Please contact us for more information and pricing for this litter.  If you have email, then please email us and set up a time for a phone consult. Email is the best for initial contact. After we have answered basic questions and you are seriously interested, then we will want to talk to you on the phone, and hopefully (if you live near enough) arrange to have you come visit the puppies. If you don't have email, then please us a voice message. We are so busy with pups and our projects that we cannot answer our phones, so please leave us a detailed message and we'll call you back.
