Palomino's test results were a bit
inconsistent and we will do a repeat test for comparison (3's, 4's 6's,
one 1, one 5). He did not come to or follow the strange tester, but he
does come to us just fine. This may indicate that he will be a dog that
will be extremely bonded to his owner and not particularly outgoing with
strangers. He may be happier in a home without children, perhaps with an
older couple with a quiet lifestyle. He showed good responsiveness to
being petted by the stranger, cuddling up and licking her. He struggled
some when held on his back but not at all when held two feet in the air.
He showed strong touch sensitivity, meaning he needs delicate handling
and never any physical discipline. He showed good stability to a strange
sound and did not cringe or hide and actively investigated a new object
(open umbrella).
Palomino was retested on May 5 as his
first test result seemed a bit uncharacteristic. This time, we made
sure he was well rested and fully alert. He came to our strange
tester and followed just fine with his tail up. His results this
time (six 3's, one 2, two 4's, two 5's) were similar to the last
results. But this time he was submissive in both restraint
positions. He investigated the thrown object but did not bring it
back to the tester. He showed less touch sensitivity this time. We
added a new test for persistence and Palomino earned a 3, "Quite,
thoughtful, seems to be thinking, successful". Palomino appears to
be coming into his own the older he gets. He is more outgoing with
his siblings and with us. He is growing in self-confidence, but is
still very easy to work with and train. This new test shows that.

Palomino
measured 13 inches tall, by 13 1/2 inches long, which is within the
poodle standard. All of his scores were excellent with the exception of
his eyes which are just slightly a little to the round side of almond
shaped and not as oblique as some of his siblings. His ear set is just a
tad high. He has good bone, straight legs, a nice topline, perfect
scissors bite, good depth of chest - in short, very close to perfection.
His temperament tested as sound and relaxed. Palomino has gorgeous rich
apricot color and a very sweet personality.
