Java was our third puppy born at 9:35. He was very strong and healthy from the start.
This weekend we noticed a tiny umbilical hernia on Java. These are common in puppies and often go away on their own by 6 months or so. If they don't or get larger, they may require minor surgery. He's still breeding quality and comes with an unlimited registration. He's got a perfect scissors bite, a shiny black coat, and no other flaws are apparent.

Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test Results

Java's results ( four 4's, three 2's, three 3's) indicate a middle of the road puppy. In actuality though, we have found Java to be one of the more quiet and shy pups. He was more outgoing with our stranger than we would have anticipated, but that may indicate that he is a bit overwhelmed by some of his more energetic siblings and shines more when alone with humans. He came immediately to our tester, licking her hands and followed her as well. He cuddled up to her when petted. He hated being held on his back and struggled a lot, but was perfectly relaxed being held in the air. He loved chasing objects but kept them and chewed and did not return to the tester. He showed low touch sensitivity. He was calm and mildly curious about strange sights and sounds. Java would likely be a good choice for a family. He is a bit more independent than some of the other puppies and could likely handle a little more alone time, but still be very happy to see his family upon their return.

Puppy Puzzle Conformation results

Java showed sound temperament, allowing himself to be held on his back in the tester's arms but was the most stiff of his littermates. Java remains one of the shyer pups in the litter. He measured 13 inches at the shoulder and 13 inches long, showing perfect proportions. Java has gorgeous shiny black fur and perfectly set almond shaped obliquely set eyes. His ears are perfectly set as well and hang close to his face. Java's front legs were among the straightest in the litter. Other than his umbilical hernia, which may require minor surgery, Java is perfect show/breeding quality. However, he would need to gain confidence if he were to go to a show home. He warms up quickly when taken away from his littermates but tends to hang back when all of the pups are together.
