Cinderella is just lovely. She is smart as a whip. She was the first to learn to eat out of a dish, the first to learn how to use the puppy door, and she is advancing really fast with her clicker training. She can go back and forth between us when called without missing a beat and has learned to sit on command. She watches us carefully, and looks right into our eyes. She is xtremely sweet and affectionate and just beautiful.
Volhard Puppy Aptitude Test Results
Cinderella went readily to
the tester, but kept her tail down. She followed hesitantly, wagging her tail.
She struggled very minimally when restrained with some eye contact. She sat and
allowed the tester to pet her but eventually walked away. She struggled mildly
and whimpered softly when elevated. She chased the object quickly but returned
without it to the tester. She showed no reaction to pressure on her paw,
indicating very low touch sensitivity. She looked and then ran away after
hearing a loud sound, cringing some. She watched the tester pull the towel,
watching alertly, but did not follow, eventually walked away. She looked calmly
at the open umbrella, showed no startle response and kept her tail up,
eventually walked away. She was quick and thoughtful about locating the cheese
under the cup. She was affectionate with the tester after the testing was
complete.
Cinderella earned mostly 3's and 4's, indicating a balanced, easily trained
puppy. She was in the middle on the dominance to submission scale. She showed no
fear except for the loud noise which scared her a bit, and she did have her tail
down initially. But she also wagged her tail more than other pups, indicating a
friendly puppy. Cinderella has always played well with her littermates, neither
shy, nor aggressive. She is a very alert and playful puppy, who enjoys lots of
activity. She showed mild interest in retrieving, probably more suited to
chasing balls than hunting. Cinderella might be slightly shy in new situations,
particularly with noises, and might prefer a household more on the quiet side.
She enjoys children however and is very patient with them.
Puppy Puzzle Conformation results
The following conformation results are for anyone looking for a show/breeding prospect. If you are not planning on doing either of those, the results below won't really matter. Every puppy in this litter is structurally sound, healthy and beautiful. But to pick out the best show/breeding prospects in any litter, you have to go over each puppy in depth with a fine tooth comb and get very picky about the tiniest details! We like to be very open about all of the information about each puppy, so each person can best find the puppy that is perfect for them. Most breeders are not so open about such results, but we try to treat our puppy people the way we like to be treated when we are looking for a puppy. For a pet, the temperament testing above is all important, as well as what sex and color and size you prefer. But the fine details are only going to be really noticeable to dog show judges.
Cinderella, or Cinderelly as we also call her, is a lovely creme girl with
fluffy fur and a charming disposition. She was perfectly relaxed when held on
her back. She measured 12.5 x 12.5, very balanced. She has lovely black pigment,
which contrasts so strikingly with her creme fur. The bone structure of her head
and face was ideal in every way, showing no tendency for her muzzle to become
too narrow. Her eyes tested as just a shade on the round side and not quite as
oblique as ideal. Her lovely ears, which have more apricot coloring than her
body, are set correctly low and hang nice and close to her face. She has a
perfect scissors bite and her back teeth are correctly placed as well.
Cinderella earned outstanding scores for the measurements, structure and angles
of her arms, shoulders, elbows, front assembly, depth of chest, length of
ribcage and loin, hocks, feet, shape of pelvis, tailset and topline! Her front
legs were perfectly straight and her back legs just a bit less so. She toed out
slightly when her back end was gently dropped. Her tailset is absolutely
perfect. Held high and angled as per the standard. Cinderella's hocks were
exactly perpendicular to the ground when stacked and her feet were correctly
placed in relation to her point of rump. Cinderella held moderately still during
the testing, with occasional pleas to go play. She trotted, rather than bunny
hopped when asked to run.
Cinderella's conformation testing makes her another good candidate for show or
breeding. She scored very well on many important factors. Another plus is that
Cinderella has long been one of the most photogenic puppies in the litter. It's
actually hard to get a bad picture of her, a real asset for a show dog. She
reminds us very much of our own Chantilly.
Cinderella was the 3rd pup born on March 3 at 8:00 pm, weighing 12 oz.
